On the 6th Feb. 2005, SNCTP in collaboration with the national FGM/HTPs network organized a full open day celebration at East Blue Nile locality Bahri Kurkog club. The estimated number attended was (900). Speeches from SNCTP Director and IAC Vice president, commissioner of Eastern Nile municipality, United Nations Human Rights, UNICEF and UNFPA representatives and the Sudanese Medical Council Director were listened to. During the event the representatives of British ambassador, Japanese, European Union (EU), Norwegian Church Aid representative, Netherlands embassy, Save the Children Sweden, international NGOs, civil society, communities and many political parties were enthusiastic participated. Drama, music band and poems against FGM were performed. In every sessions the youth and the community shouted vigorously that “la li khitan alinas” “ Awakif Khtan alinas” that means “No for FGM practice”, “Stop all forms of FGM”. Match on FGM abolition cup: Two teams Al-salama and Kurkog competed for the cup, where it was won by Al-salam team. The estimated (1,800) spectators attended. During the match continues FGM elimination messages were been announced as well as presentation of speeches.

In the late evening religious leaders held discussions on FGM relation to Islam. The estimated (200) people who are mostly religious leaders, youths women, local government attended. The seminar discussed the linkage between FGM and Islamic religion. Where the religious leaders after long debate jointly admitted that there is no linkage of FGM with Islam and they urged the attendants to discourage the deadly practice.
